Principals

Keith Michels, AIA was responsible for the design and/or construction of major mixed-use projects including Harmon Meadow, Overpeck Center, Edgewater Commons, and City Place at the Promenade in Edgewater, New Jersey. His experience includes all phases of real estate development, design, planning and construction for both commercial and residential uses. currently he is spearheading major Mixed-Use, Retail and Transit oriented design projects in Newark, Bloomfield, River Edge, Kearny, Fanwood and numerous other communities in the region.

Robert Waldron, AIA  is the managing partner in the firm. Bob is a licensed architect in New Jersey, New York as well as many other states throughout the nation. He has designed millions of square feet of industrial, commercial, retail, hospitality, residential and mixed use projects during his 33 year career. Bob is also a successful developer with many completed projects in New Jersey and New York. During the past five years Bob has concentrated on large mixed-use projects. The developments typically contain residential, retail, structured parking and industrial. As a former Construction Code Official and Zoning Officer, he is intimately familiar with building codes and the approval process.

Arthur Michels, AIA, PP, LEED AP  is a licensed architect in New Jersey and New York, a licensed Professional Planner in New Jersey and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He has designed a full range if commercial work including offices, office interiors, hotels, retail, industrial centers and multi-family residential projects. He has also designed health care spaces including surgical suites, imaging suites, rehabilitation centers as well as medical office space. Art maintains strong technical code analysis and project organization skills and oversees the firm’s construction administration phase services.

Perry Frenzel PE, PP brings nearly thirty years of experience in the real estate development industry to Michels & Waldron Associates, from both the public and the private sectors. He has had the unique opportunity to be deeply involved the development process from three perspectives: first as the Chief Engineer for the regional zoning and planning authority charged with guiding and overseeing the orderly development of New Jersey’s Hackensack Meadowlands, then as a civil engineering and planning consultant to many of the region’s property owners , and as the Senior Vice President of Engineering and Development for one of the State’s largest real estate developers.

Walter M. Smith, Jr. brings to Michels & Waldron 25 years of experience in the design, construction and management of commercial and residential real estate. In that capacity, he served as Executive Vice President of Operations for one of the country’s largest private development, leasing and property management firms having holdings in excess of 30 million square feet. The portfolio includes luxury hotels, corporate office space, mixed-use commercial centers, warehouse/distribution facilities, and multi-unit residential developments.
